Beyond the four required Economics courses and the four required Economics electives from the above list, students may choose an additional two non-Economics electives in order to specialize in a certain area, or choose to specialize in Economics with additional courses from the above list.  A wide range of courses are available across different Schools and Colleges across campus, which allows students to blend their Economics coursework with Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or other fields. Students should consult both the Georgia Tech Graduate Course Catalog to see available historically offered courses, and also visit the individual program websites to see what courses are offered in any given term.

  • There are potentially several other non-economics electives that a student may take in areas related to Health, Energy, Environment, City and Urban Planning, Accounting, Finance, Management, Public Policy, etc.
  • Varying programs across campus may have enrollment restrictions for courses within their program. These are often imposed due to high demand, program-specific requirements, and/or restrictions on class size.
  • For courses without explicit restrictions, it is to the student's advantage to register early as classes may fill up.
  • Please consult the Georgia Tech Course Catalog for the most up-to-date information possible

Please note, if a student wishes to take any required electives for the MS in Economics program OUTSIDE of the School of Economics, it is entirely up to the discretion of the outside department/program as to their enrollment requirements, policies, and/or procedures. If there is a restriction on enrollment, the student should reach out directly to that department to inquire about the enrollment requirements/pre-requisites for a specific course.
