Whitney Miller

1. What do you do?

I work on the Product Strategy team within Pricing and Revenue Management at Delta Air Lines. In my role, I manage all things baggage. Day to day, I evaluate baggage revenue performance. On a larger scale, I partner with other departments to push strategic initiatives past the finish line as a true product owner.

As Delta is a global airline, I also have the opportunity to partner with our joint-venture partners — Air France, KLM, Aeromexico, LATAM, Virgin Atlantic, and Korean Air — to ensure a seamless customer experience across carriers.

2. What's the coolest part of your job?

Working for an airline means I have the privilege of seeing the world! Since joining the company, I've traveled to four countries and seen beautiful sights across America (I highly recommend a New England summer if you can!).

My travel bug truly blossomed when I studied abroad at GT-Lorraine in Summer 2019, and I am so glad that I found a workplace that allows me to travel as much as I do.

3. Why are you passionate about it?

In my experience, it is rare to find a job where you can see the fruits of your labor day to day. While traveling, I get to see my work come to life.

There's so much to learn from my own exposure, not to mention my parents will always send me a text (or a few) when they travel with lessons that I can take to my team.

Being in a position where I can encounter firsthand the things I played a role in is a special experience. Also, Delta is the hometown airline as a metro Atlanta native, which makes it a little more special to me.

4. Which skills from your IAC degree have helped you be successful in this career?

Many of my professional peers are economics grads like myself, but what makes me different is the crossroads of liberal arts and technology that you can only find at Ivan Allen College.

In the traditional sense, my understanding of macro and micro principles are shared amongst others. What gives me a competitive edge are the analytical abilities and coding skills that I also possess and apply to improve business processes.

5. What's your #1 tip for students and alumni interested in your field?

Continue to take advantage of how well-rounded an IAC degree can be! If you find yourself at a large company, you will have the flexibility to become an asset in many spaces by leveraging your versatility. Also, lean on the GT network; Yellow Jackets look out for each other!
