Post-Doctoral Fellow Jie Chen Accepts Tenure-track Position at James Madison University

Posted March 18, 2022

Congratulations to post-doctoral fellow Jie Chen, who was offered a tenure-track position at James Madison University! At JMU, Chen will teach health economics and statistics courses and continue her research in health economics using applied econometrics methods.

Chen is a Ph.D. graduate of Lehigh University and a post-doctoral fellow in the Health Economics and Analytics Lab (HEAL) at Georgia Tech. She chose her primary area of study because she likes to "work on research that generates an impact on health policy and solves real-world health problems," and she has published articles in Health Economics journal.

While Chen is most looking forward to continuing her research in health economics, she also has a passion for teaching. "I enjoy working with my students and helping them succeed," she said. "While teaching, I also have a chance to learn from my students, which in turn will inspire my own research."

Georgia Tech has been a great part of her research journey. "While at Georgia Tech, I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with talented researchers," Chen said. "My advisor Dr. Danny Hughes has been instrumental in helping me develop my research portfolio and prepare me for an academic career."

Congratulations, Jie!
