Ph.D. Minor Concentrations

Students are required to have a major and a minor field offered by the School of Economics, choosing among the three currently offered (development economics, environmental economics, and international economics). Occasionally, the School of Economics offers elective courses that complement our field courses.

In addition, students must complete a degree minor consisting of three courses in a discipline outside of economics as per Institute policy. The three courses may be from one specific discipline or may be from a variety of disciplines provided they constitute a coherent theme. The goal of this requirement is to foster interdisciplinary research. Subject to the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies, one of the three courses used to satisfy the degree minor can be a course offered by the School of Economics.
