Navigating Careers with an Economics Degree

Students will learn from a panel of economics professionals and mentoring faculty what it takes to land a successful career and the types of career paths that are open with an economics degree.
The event is organized by the Southeastern Economics Collaborative, which welcomes economics students and advisors from all schools in the region, and is a safe place for students, advisors, faculty, and professionals to connect and support each other through their career decision-making
Panelists
- Isabella Canales Claudio is a climate change and sustainability consultant at Ernst & Young. Claudio graduated from the University of Georgia with a M.S. degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics with a heavy emphasis on environmental resource management. Prior to that, she earned her B.S. at UGA in Environmental Economics and Management with a minor in Political Science and Certificate of Sustainability.
- Quentin Johnson is the director of diversity and inclusion programs at the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics at the University of Chicago. A graduate of Morehouse College with a B.S. in Math and Economics, Johnson also earned an MBA from American University. Johnson also served as senior economics outreach specialist for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
- Michael Sparks is a research analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He received Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Mathematics from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.
- Aselia Urmanbetova, Ph.D. is an undergraduate teaching coordinator at the School of Economics at Georgia Tech.
