Xi (Marcie) Mao is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Economics. Her primary fields of interest are environmental and natural resources, international trade, and economic history. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Iowa and her Master of Arts in Economics from Ohio University. She is currently working on trade policies and technological changes for institutional development. Specifically, she is investigating how historical trade liberalization policies and technological changes affect slavery in the United States.
