Shemyakina Selected for the Leading Women@Tech Program

Posted August 24, 2020

Associate Professor, Olga Shemyakina, has been selected to be a part of the fifth cohort of the Leading Women@Tech Program. Shemyakina is one of 29 individuals who were selected because of their high performance in leading critical and/or transformative initiatives at Georgia Tech.

Shemyakina’s research examines the effects of violent conflict and subsequent instances of protracted economic and political instability on the behavior of households in various geographical and institutional settings. Her recent research has explored the short- and long-term effects of armed conflict on health and education of children, subjective well-being, migration, marriage, and labor market outcomes.

The program focuses on strengthening leadership competency through workshops, dialogues, and executive coaching. The aim is to make this cohort become the catalyst to emerge a growing community of women leaders.

"I am honored to be nominated and selected for the program. I am looking forward to participating in it and meeting other program participants and learning with and from them" said Shemyakina.
